Small Group Personal Training - The BTG Way
Our in-person training sessions are conducted in a small group format, with no more than four members per session. This model not only fosters a sense of community but also ensures ample one-on-one coaching, allowing for tailored adjustments to meet your unique needs.
Affordable Personal Training Options
While the training follows a group curriculum, the small ratio ensures a personalized touch, making the experience more engaging, which helps members stay on track and committed, and also more cost-effective compared to traditional one-on-one training.
Personal training can be effective, fun AND affordable.
Nutrition and Lifestyle - More than Just Fitness
All of our in-person training members also have FREE access to our Essentials of Healthy Eating online course and other resources to kick-start better nutrition habits that will enhance their training results to help them achieve more, faster. The guidance and support of one-on-one nutrition and lifestyle coaching is also available to our in-person training members as an affordable add-on to their memberships.

Memberships and Scheduling
-
We focus on small-group personal training for a fun, group vibe but with a more affordable rate than most personal training options. All training memberships are paid monthly, and pricing varies depending on how many times per week you train.
Currently, 2x weekly training starts at $209.42 per month + GST, or roughly $26.18 per session. We also have options for 3x and 4x weekly training if needed.
-
Absolutely! We offer a Referral Rewards discount to members who refer their friends to train with us. For each friend that becomes a member, the referring member receives 10% off of their monthly training for as long as they are both members.
This discount is cumulative as well - so if you refer 2 friends, you get 20% off, 3 friends = 30%, and so on. ;)
-
After an initial 3-month commitment, all of our memberships are month-to-month - no long-term contracts.
We require all new members to commit to a minimum of 3 months training with us because that is how long it takes to begin seeing real, lasting results. We don’t want to B.S. you with promises of massive change in a matter of weeks because that kind of change doesn’t last.
Most folks take about a month or so to “get up to speed” and really settle in, and we also don’t advise making drastic changes in diet/nutrition in the first month because your body will already have quite an adjustment to make!
After the first month is when we’ll really start to test your limits and may begin to look at making some nutrition / lifestyle changes to dial things in and get the results you’re after.
-
In addition to our in-person, small group training sessions, we also frequently hold “extracurricular activities” with our members, like group road or trail runs, hikes, and obstacle practice for those training for Spartan Race or other OCR events.
We also run member-only Challenges throughout the year, centred around various activity, nutrition or lifestyle-related endeavours, usually with some prizes for participation.
All of our members also have FREE access to all of our online courses on nutrition, mindset, sleep and stress management. We highly recommend that everyone go through our course “The Essentials of Healthy Eating” as part of their journey, but it’s not required. Our in-person training members also have the option to add on one-on-one nutrition, mindset and lifestyle coaching to their membership at an exclusive, discounted rate not available to the public. You can learn more about coaching at this link.

All sessions at The BTG are led by me, Coach JP, personally, and our training facility is at my home.
Because of this, all sessions are scheduled in advance, and most members attend training at the same days and times each week (though we do have a couple of folks on shift work whose schedules vary).
-
We run in-person training Monday to Thursday, with sessions available most days at 9 AM, 10 AM, 4 PM, 5 PM, 6 PM and 7 PM.
NOTE: We are closed on all stat holidays.
Our schedule is quite full and we have limited spaces available, so if you’re interested in training with us, Apply Now to fill out the application form and schedule a call with me. We’ll discuss schedule as part of your initial consultation call.

Training and Movements

Everything we do is designed to be as joint-friendly as possible, and scalable to all levels of fitness and physical ability, so the answer is probably yes. Coach JP's original training background was primarily in post-rehab conditioning - that is, exercise for recovery from injury, surgery, etc., so we're comfortable working with just about anything you can bring to the table. If we can't work with your issues, we'll help you find someone here in town who can.
Our Small Group Personal Training workouts scale to all strength and ability levels, so we can get you working hard at your level in a group setting right away.
We just ask that you be willing to work hard and test your limits early and often, because we find that's the quickest path to improvement. If you're willing to commit to working hard, we can absolutely make training at The BTG work for you.
-
Us having a really solid knowledge of how you move is super important for us in evaluating how you'll fit into our Small Group Personal Training sessions. We need to know where you're at to make sure you're not going to get injured, and so we can figure out how best to help you meet your training goals.
Honestly, most people end up displaying similar issues due to the prevalence of chronic seated posture / behaviour in our modern society. The most common things we see are tight but weak hip flexors, under-active glutes, forward head and shoulder positioning, weak grip, and poor core timing/coordination and strength.
Instead of taking you through a static "assessment", your first session with us is our "On-Ramp" program, where we get a look at how you move by having you...well...move!
We'll take you through the fundamental movement patterns we use in the gym to see what you already do well, and what needs work so we can work out a game plan for your continued training with us, and also give you some concrete things you can start doing right away at home to accelerate your progress.
For the large majority of people, that is more effective and time-efficient than a canned "assessment", and gets you moving towards your goals sooner.
-
To be "toned" you need to have muscle. To build muscle, you need to lift/move/carry heavy things, including your own bodyweight. That is strength training.
Building muscle doesn't mean looking like a bodybuilder. In fact, most people's bodies 100% cannot look like a bodybuilder's without significant pharmaceutical aid (E.G. steroids, HGH, etc.).

It’s awesome that you already have some steady-state cardio kind of work happening, whether that be running, cycling, swimming or whatever the case may be - it is a very important part of having a balanced approach to fitness. What we do in our conditioning classes is different, and will complement your steady-state cardio training.
By doing high-intensity interval training like we do in the conditioning-oriented parts of our sessions, you’ll enhance your ability to go hard, recover, and go hard again. Perfect for crushing the rolling hills on a run course, or sprinting to break away from the pack when cycling!
We’ve had numerous runners and other endurance athletes train with us and find that their performance has dramatically improved despite running or cycling the same or even less mileage because they can push harder with less effort than before.
